These upgrades are rolling out globally and are set to make identity verification faster, more secure, and more user-friendly. Here’s everything you need to know about the new enhancements and why they’re game-changers.
Understanding the update: Enhanced OCR and formatting
MetaMap’s OCR upgrade has already proven successful in several countries. With this update, we’re expanding the reach to include Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, and beyond, making a difference for users globally.
Key changes include:
— Refined field formats: We’ve reverted to using more straightforward field codes. This change responds to feedback on our previous trial format, aiming for consistency and ease of use.
Reverting to previous ID Type field formats
- P for passport
- ID for identification documents
- DL for driver’s license
- POA for proof of address
—Standardized nationality codes: Nationality is now captured in a uniform three-letter MRZ code, like “MEX” for Mexico or “COL” for Colombia, creating a global standard that’s easier to understand and apply.
—Enhanced OCR efficiency: We’re retiring the Dynamic Input Capture feature. This tool previously supported users in reviewing ID information but is now unnecessary, thanks to significant advancements in OCR accuracy.
These updates translate to a smoother, faster identity verification experience. By reducing manual steps and adopting standardized formats, we’re making your workflow more efficient and minimizing potential security risks from outdated or overly complex identity fields.
Implementation timeline and what to expect
The update went live on September 2024. There’s no need for additional actions; the changes will be automatically applied to improve your system’s performance and reliability.
At MetaMap, we’re committed to continual improvements that elevate security and efficiency. With these OCR upgrades, your organization benefits from a more robust verification process, helping you build greater trust and reliability in your operations.
